Ghana to enroll into 5G network soon-Joe Anokye. Ghana is about to enjoy 5G network
Hey there
He asserts that the necessary spectrum for 5G is currently accessible, and he has indicated that an official declaration about the shift to 5G will be issued in 2024.
He delivered these remarks during the 12th R. P. Baffour Memorial lectures at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
“Progress is being made in the implementation of 5G, with the necessary spectrum secured. Decisions on spectrum accessibility policies are pending due to complex market dynamics, aiming to avoid a single entity dominating 5G acquisition. Ongoing discussions are addressing these complexities, and an official announcement is expected by 2024.”
He is urging different institutions to improve local internet services, ensuring the 5G system’s effectiveness upon implementation.
Mr. Joe Anokye, in partnership with the National Media Commission, emphasized the NCA’s dedication to curbing television operators airing “undesirable content,” urging the public to report promptly any stations engaged in such broadcasts.
“The National Media Commission and NCA recently joined forces to create a reporting system for objectionable content, offering citizens an avenue to voice concerns at 800419666. Feel free to dial now. Additionally, the NCA has established an advanced broadcast monitoring center to enforce compliance with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for licensed entities, equipped with content recording capabilities.”
“When you make a call, they swiftly initiate the program, capture it, and by week’s end, dispatch the report to the National Media Commission, triggering necessary measures. It’s worth noting that the broadcast system established by the NCA stands as a pioneering effort in the sub-region. Currently, regulatory representatives from neighboring areas visit bi-monthly to witness the endeavors of the National Media Commission and the Ministry of Communication and Digitalization.”
Mr. Joe Anokye, the Director General of the National Communications Authority (NCA) and a graduate of KNUST, addressed the 12th R. P. Baffour memorial lectures, emphasizing the impact of KNUST’s products across diverse fields. The lecture centered on “KNUST After 70: A New Age for a Renewed Focus in an era of disruptive technologies.”
He acknowledged the university’s role in fostering technological progress.
